| Step-by-Step |
- With the rest of your class, fill out the "event" side of the Earth+ Marketing Worksheet for your earth+ event.
- Fill out the Earth+ Marketing Worksheet for your public relations actions.
- Fill out the Earth+ Talking Points Worksheet for the press release.
- Fill out the Earth+ Press Release Template for the press release, and get it approved by your teacher. Use the Earth+ Template Example as a model.
- Write your press release. Use the Earth+ Press Release Example as a model.
- Evaluate your press release using the Checklist for an Effective Earth+ Press Release, and revise it as appropriate.
- Identify at lease five appropriate media contacts to send your release to, send it to them, and follow up with a phone call. Use the Earth+ Public Relations: Finding Media Contacts form to record this information.
- Identify 5-10 local "event calendars" (publications and web sites) in which you can announce your event, and send or upload the appropriate information to each. Note: The web page "Green Ambassador Local Event Calendars" lists resources for some specific geographic areas. Write your calendar announcements, get them approved by your teacher, and send them out. If the publications allow you to include a photo with your announcement, choose a photo and get approval from your teacher.
- Identify two local radio stations and contact them and arrangement to be interviewed about your earth+ event. (You may substitute another technique of public relations, if you wish; whatever you can think of that will get the word out to a large group of people.)
- Before the event, study the document Earth+ Public Relations: What To Do At The Event.
- At the event, be sure you meet, talk to, and exchange business cards with reporters or others who are there representing organizations.
- After the event, fill out the Earth+ Public Relations Results form.
